We hope our latest communication finds you and your families safe and well? As part of our getting to know you better promise, Suttons are delighted to inform you that we have three new team members.  We would like to introduce Steven Walker and Simon Baggot who join the adviser team and Safeer Sulehman who has joined as a Paraplanner.

Steven Walker APFS, Chartered Financial Planner

Steven Walker joins us as a highly skilled and time served financial planner. Steven has over 30 years’ experience in the industry and attained Chartered status a number of years ago. Chartered status is the gold standard of our profession. Steve has previously been a Director of a Financial planning and Investment management company and is also an Associate of the Personal Finance Society.  Steven’s experience, technical and professional knowledge and calming influence make him a valuable new member of the Suttons team.

Steven is married with two daughters and has a passion for all sports and walking the many mountains of the British Isles.  When asked what are the four keys things you should have, he replies ‘’a job, a sport and a hobby, and a passion to do the right thing, these all lead to contentment’’.

Simon Baggott DipPFS, Financial Planner

Simon Baggott is another great addition to the financial advisory team at Suttons. Simons background has been in accountancy, financial control and operations management. Simon has been working in the Financial Services industry for the last 16 years and is a Diploma qualified financial adviser in his own right, combining his great knowledge of process with great client care.

Simon is a keen and very good golfer, he is married with two children a son and daughter the eldest of which Matthew has just embarked on his first year at University to study Mechatronics and Robotics. For those of you who know Simon his son’s course is no surprise, Simon has a deep interest in all things technical and is a very handy man to know.

Safeer Sulehman, Paraplanner

“Saf” joined Suttons as a paraplanner at the beginning of the year and works with Ben Preston to provide support to our clients. Having graduated from University with a degree in Economics, Saf embarked on his career in financial services with an ambition to become a financial adviser firmly in mind. Saf joins us having previously worked for two wealth management firms, most recently at Chase De Vere.

Saf says ‘‘When I first met Harvey and Ben I immediately liked the culture and values they and the team spoke of.  I felt working at Suttons would be the ideal place to really move forward with my career, as part of a demanding working environment, which would offer opportunities you wouldn’t otherwise receive working for the larger companies.  I like working in a tight knit firm where you get be really involved in the planning we do for clients and where you get to see the positive impact this has.’’

It has been a strange start to life at Suttons because the country was placed into lockdown just six weeks into his new role.  Despite working from home for long periods, the strengths Saf demonstrated in his initial interviews have shone through and we are incredibly pleased with how he has progressed and how well he has fit into the team.  It is clear Saf loves speaking with clients and he has become the first point of contact for many of our clients already.  This is testament to the level of care and attention Saf puts into helping them.

While Saf continues to gain real day to day experience in the business, he has been studying hard to complete his Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning to sharpen his technical skills.  With one more exam to complete, we are looking forward to letting you know how well he has progressed soon.
